The Ox Cart is Rolling

The Ox Cart is Rolling!
November 2007

Old Fashioned Christmas is upon us.  Don’t miss this opportunity to participate in the activities scheduled for you on December 1 at the city hall in Drayton.  Ox Cart Trails Historical Society will be putting together the special treats for Santa to distribute to the public, decorating the Christmas tree, making homemade ice cream and participating in the Souper Supper and auction.  There are some special activities scheduled this day for you to enjoy in your hometown without traveling very far.

Riverfest 2007, that was great weekend!  Many individuals and organizations worked extremely hard at coming up with fresh, appealing events that really draw people to Drayton. The Supper at the Soddy was a great success and will be part of the activities next year.  Lauraine and Wayne Snelling joined us for this event and again in October.  It’s always a pleasure to have this well-known author come to Drayton, to the town that she says “feels like home” to her.

All yearly membership dues paid now will be in effect until December 31, 2008.  We welcome all ages to become a member, and your dues help with the many expenses that come with having a museum in town. The students that visited the museum last month had many questions about the displays. This was great because we want our young people to know about their community.  Although it is a little cool in the museum right now, we open the doors upon request for any group or individual.

That gift-wrapped log house with all the straps is our latest addition to the Blessing Village.  We have the logs to replace the bottom 3 rows, and grants have been received to help with the expenses to finish the two log homes that will eventually be in the museum lot.  But, we would like you to help us.  Even if you don’t know anything about building, it would be an opportunity to work on restoring a century-old building.  Do you have some spare time?

We have many projects on our plate, and we need Drayton’s help to do all this. Our web site is www.oxcarttrails.net.   Should you have questions regarding any of these activities call 701-454-6103 or email president@oxcarttrails.net.  Help us keep the Ox Cart Rolling.
