The Ox Cart is Rolling!

Ox Cart Trails Historical Society is kicking off the summer with workdays starting now until we get done.  We have a log home builder/restorer working on the bottom logs of the log house.  Plans are to have this done by the end of the month.  Then we need to finish the house and furnish it.  Do you have some extra time to help us?  Setting up displays inside the museum is also on the agenda.  Many working hands work well together!

Riverfest 2008 will be here very soon.  Our Supper at the Soddy will be Saturday, July 19, serving 5:00 to 8:00.  Chamber wants us to extend the serving hours to allow the fishing people at the Catfish Tournament to be able to enjoy this meal with us.  Ox Cart extends this invitation for you and your family to enjoy this home-style meal with the community.  The menu hasn’t been finalized yet, but it is sure to be tasty.     

Ox Cart Trails Historical Society is in the planning stage for a play from Lauraine Snelling’s “Red River of the North” for Riverfest 2009, the same time as the DHS All-Class reunion. This presentation will take some time to get the actors, costumes, props and scenery.  There could be people coming from far and wide to attend the play since this is a first for her books.  So, we want to do it right!  Right now we are thinking of the performances to be the weekend prior July 10 & 11 as well as Riverfest weekend July 15 – 19.  Although it is a year away, time flies when you are having fun.  Can you paint?  Can you sew?  How are you with the hammer?  Are you creative? Are you tall and blonde?  (However, not all of the actors need to be Norwegian.)  Exciting, isn’t it?  Lauraine will be here the end of September to talk about the project.
