The Ox Cart is Rolling

The Ox Cart is Rolling!
March 2007

Ingeborg is visiting Drayton Drug.  The historical society has started a project of placing mannequins in local stores to give you a small style show of the clothing from the late 1800’s and early 1900’s as they are portrayed in the Red River of the North books by Lauraine Snelling.  If you have any clothing, either authentic or reproductions, from that era for women, men or children, let us know.  This would include accessories, shoes and purses.

Stop at our book store, now in Drayton Drug, to check out our mugs with the logo of Blessing/Drayton and Ox Cart Trails Historical Society.  Ingeborg Bjorklund’s Red River Cookbook plus all of Ms. Snelling’s other books are also at the Drug Store.  “Sophie”, who follows A Promise for Ellie, is due to be out in July; and we will have them in stock for you to purchase.

Hastings Landing Restaurant is now open for all of us to enjoy a meal out.  While you are there, take note of how Christine has decorated with many pictures of old Drayton-area scenes.  These photos are from her files of the family, the archives of the Historical Society, and others are from our local residents.  Our mugs and cookbooks are also available at Hastings Landing.

The www.blessingnd.com web site includes a contest for a favorite Easter recipe.  This would be something that has been passed down in your family, or is a part of a special Easter tradition in your home.  Enter the contest and perhaps you could win a free sweatshirt or apron featuring the new Ingeborg Bjorklund logo.  The contest ends April 30, 2007.

We have many projects on our plate, and we need Drayton’s help to do all this.  Lauraine and Wayne Snelling will be our guests for Riverfest 2007.  New members are always welcome, but if you want to just help, we welcome your generosity.  Our web site is www.oxcarttrails.net.  Should you have questions regarding any of these activities or to reserve a mug, a copy of the cookbook or one of Ms. Snelling’s many books call 701-454-6103 or email president@oxcarttrails.net.  Help us keep the Ox Cart Rolling.
